Acquisition

Our acquisition of PMS Telecom earlier this year is part of a carefully planned growth strategy that we believe will benefit not just its customers, but also our own Y2 clients.

New offices

As part of our programme of expansion, Y2 has moved to larger offices in the centre of Bishop's Stortford, putting us at the heart of the region's business community.

Our new base gives us both the increased office space we need to accommodate our team of communications specialists, and provides a large airy conference room for client meetings.



Save between 10% and 30% on line rental and call charges

Many of Y2's clients came to us initially because they were fed up with paying BT's high line rental and call charges. By using one of our trusted supplier networks, Y2's customers can save around 25% on line rental - and between 10% and 30% on call charges! When Dorringtons, a major regional bakery with retail branches across Herts, Essex and Cambs decided to review and upgrade their communications system, Y2 was one of 3 potential suppliers brought in to discuss their options.

Dorringtons, who employ 150 people, decided on the review because they believed that changes in the market would mean they could make some cost savings. Additionally, they wanted to upgrade the office telephone system and improve inter branch communication.

Director Caroline Sharples, who oversaw the selection process, chose Y2 because of a combination of factors: obviously the range of products and services Y2 can deliver was important, but the trust factor and the fact that Y2 is a local supplier with an emphasis on high levels of service also played a part.

Following a consultation period Y2 proposed a new telephone system with the latest in wireless handsets and headsets to enable staff to answer calls while away from their desks.

Y2 also reviewed the remote sites access to head office and recommended a new carrier to reduce call charges by 30%. Finally a shared mobile call plan was recommended and implemented providing further savings.

"Our new systems are more flexible, and we hope to make considerable savings over time," commented Caroline. "An issue with mobile network coverage for one of our managers was easily sorted out, and it's certainly easier to administer the single monthly bill we now get than to manage a number of invoices with differing payment terms."



On-hold messaging

At Y2, we pride ourselves in looking at the whole picture when assessing our clients' communications needs. To make sure you have the right hardware, software and infrastructure in place, we can also look at how you and your team use the phone to give your customers the best possible service.

As you would expect, we find that many business experience peaks and troughs in demand, and it's not always possible to connect callers to the person they need to speak to immediately - and not everyone likes to use voice mail. This can lead to lost calls, and ultimately, lost business.

To help our clients overcome this issue, we offer a high quality on-hold messaging service. This allows you to use the time your customers are left on hold to communicate carefully targeted sales or information messages to encourage them to wait for connection while further promoting your business.



3G arrives in Stortford and Harlow

3G mobile technology is finally available in the Bishop's Stortford and the surrounding region! The third generation of mobile development is aimed at increasing efficiency and improving the performance of mobile wireless networks. 3G wireless services offer enhancements to current applications, including greater data speeds, increased capacity for voice and data and the advent of packet data networks versus today's switched networks. While not everyone's ready to upgrade to 3G yet, there are some advantages to the technology especially high speed e mail and internet access on the move.
